Atom’s new Trak-Atak has a face! The wheel that so many have asked for is now here. Atom’s 38x59mm wheel with a defined lip has the speed and maneuverability of a slim wheel with the stability and grip of a wide wheel. Trak-Atak wheels have the same amount of urethane as a standard 62X44mm wheel unlike any other slim 59 on the market. Atom once again is changing the game… Creating the first ‘derby-specific’ wheel designed from scratch with roller derby in mind.
Atom History: The slim wheel was not mistake. Working with world-class derby players and using some of European Rink Hockey’s knowledge where wheels are 37mmx62mm, Atom was the first to make a derby specific 38x59mm wheel, eventually creating an entire line called JUKE. Slim wheels are better for maneuverability and making sharp turns. The standard 44x62mm wheel has been the SPEED wheel of choice for over 25 years. The wide wheel allows for more surface contact therefore allowing more push and grip. Then came derby; It’s not hockey nor speed but a combination of both. Atom wheels 38x59 developments quickly became the buzz throughout the derby community. Atom has always taken pride in developing specific technologies and our new Trak-Atak continues in that tradition, combining technology and outstanding performance. The purpose behind Slim is for the maneuverability around the tight derby track. In the derby world it is stop-go, turn, and a juke away from either making a big hit or getting through as a jammer. The 59mm wheel allows you to stop-n-go much quicker than a bigger wheel. 59mm lowers your center of gravity; therefore you are more stable on your skates. By taking off that extra 6mm of urethane off the witch, creating the 38mm slim it allows you to be more nimble. With Trak-Atak we’ve added the lip back while retaining the 38x59mm size… Providing the best of both worlds.
All of the above features combined with Atom’s exclusive proprietary urethane truly make our new Trak-Atak the ‘GO-TO’ derby wheel! Available in 93a, 95a and 97a, pre-order today at a dealer near you.
